Volunteer Football Coach

Locations: Hacken Lane, BL3 1SD

Duration: We ask for a minimum of 12 months as you will be leading a Football Team throughout an entire season.

Times: 1 hour on a weekday evening, and then a match at the weekend. Team schedules are organised by the Football Development Officer.

 

About the role

As a Volunteer Football Coach you will be responsible for a football team of young people aged between 8-19 years old, with assistance from a Volunteer Assistant Coach. You will be delivering weekly training sessions to build your team’s confidence, develop their skills, and most importantly, ensure they are enjoying themselves. There are also weekly matches on a weekend which you can support by managing your team and referring other games.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are interested in a future career in coaching, working with young people, or just passionate about football!

As well as our own in-house training and Enhanced DBS check, you will also be required to have/undertake an FA DBS, FA First Aid and Safeguarding training, and the FA Level One Coaching qualification. Please note all financial costs will be reimbursed by BLGC after a qualifying period.

You don’t need any previous experience as we provide you with training, but what we do ask is that;

  • You are passionate about working with children and young people and making a difference to their lives.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • You are able to actively engage and build positive relationships with young people, as well as the rest of the team.
  • You are creative, enthusiastic, confident, and resilient.
  • You are passionate about sports, and strong knowledge of rules and drills is preferable.
  • You believe that the young people’s enjoyment and development is more important than winning.
  • Able to manage parental expectations and build positive relationships with them.
  • Be willing to complete the mandatory FA training and qualifications (we will cover any financial costs).

Football Development Volunteer

Locations: Spa Road, BL1 4AG

Duration: We ask for a minimum of 3 months as we feel this is the minimum needed to get something meaningful out of your volunteering experience.

Times: Monday 4pm – 6pm and Saturday mornings

 

About the role

You will be a crucial part of delivering our Football Development programme to our youngest of young people. You will support our fun training sessions to build our young people’s confidence, develop their skills, and most importantly, ensure they are enjoying themselves.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you are interested in a football volunteering opportunity but need a bit more flexibility!
